So St Louis Opponauts! Global Foods in Kirkwood has a shipment of Martini sweet Vermouth that will be a collector item some day. It appears that the operators of the labeling machine may have been using a bit of the product themselves. Anyway, had to buy a bottle. Unfortunately, they did not have a matching dry vermouth to go with it.

Makes it easier to read the label when you're chugging it straight anyway.

Who drinks vermouth straight up?
Actually, I have a funny story about that. We had a ton of stuff going on in life and my wife hired a dog walker out of the local paper.
One time about 3 or 4 days later, I open the liquor cabinet above the fridge and the dry vermouth is nearly full (I had only made a few drinks up until that point) but the 1 liter sweet vermouth was 2/3 gone and the cap was missing. The two bottles should have nearly equal.
I guess I do know someone who drinks it from the bottle

[Insert obligatory Orlove’d joke here]
The other day I saw Ducati sparkling water at the store.

People do drink it. Some of Hemingway’s books have the lead drinking it. Granted its usually used as an aperfif, rather than settling down with a glass.
Full disclosure, I have no desire to drink it in anything other than a mixed drink.
